FC Goa and Atlético de Kolkata share the spoils to make it four draws out of five when these two sides have met in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). A first-half goal by Arata Izumi was cancelled out by a brilliant Keenan Almeida strike after the defending champions were reduced to 10 men with Baljit Sahni being given his marching orders. In a thoroughly entertaining clash between two of India’s footballing superpowers, Kolkata coach Antonio Habas will be happy to take a point home against a strong Goan side that will be ruing they didn’t make their man advantage count to take all three points.

As has been the case with this fixture in the past, the game got off to a cagey start with both sides in a battle for midfield supremacy. The first chance came the home side’s way in the 9th minute when an exquisite pass from former Atlético de Kolkata man Joffre found Reinaldo in the box. Reinaldo’s left-footed shot rattled the side netting as the home side announced their intentions.
