Mumbai City FC finally got their campaign underway after four games, recording a 2-0 victory over Delhi Dynamos FC at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday night. Mumbai's second home game in succession saw India striker Sunil Chhetri score two gaols in the 13th and 74th minutes of the game, much to the delight of the spectators (17,393) in the stadium.

The loss saw Delhi's three-match winning streak come to an end. It was done by a Mumbai side which looked compact from the start of the game, intent on getting a positive result.

The first goal of the game came early in the first half, a result of brilliant interplay between Sony Norde and Chhetri, glimpses of which were seen in the previous game too. The move, started by Chhetri, saw the ball fall for him after Norde’s shot was blocked, and Chhetri showed good composure to latch on the volley. He adjusted his stride and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Toni Doblas in the bottom corner. Delhi had a wonderful chance of their own not long after that, but Florent Malouda failed to beat goalie Subrata Paul who was equal to the task and went down at the right time to keep out the Frenchman’s effort.
